How to claim my pension - deferred member

Your normal pension age (NPA) is the earliest age you can receive your pension without a reduction for early payment. However, you might be able to receive your pension before your NPA at a reduced rate any time from age 55 (or 50 if you were an active member of the scheme on both 5 and 6 April 2006).

How much your pension is reduced will depend on your age at the time the pension starts. Please note that the minimum pension age is set to rise to age 57 in April 2028. If you have the right to receive your pension from age 50, this will not be affected by the 2028 rise in the minimum pension age.

If you retire after your NPA, we will add a late retirement increase to your deferred pension.

*You can model the effect of retiring at different ages by using the retirement calculator, to access this you will need to register here.

We request three months’ notice of your intended retirement date. This allows sufficient time for the pension quotation to be provided, and importantly, time for you to consider your options carefully before making the decision to claim your pension.

*If you are a member of the BC Pension Fund, you are unable to model your benefits on PensionLine, please contact the Pensions Administration Team for a retirement quote.
