Scams

Scams are rife and you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who hasn’t been targeted.

They are becoming more sophisticated and increasingly using Artificial Intelligence and other technology to look authentic.

A successful scam can potentially deprive people of often life-changing amounts of money. These days scammers target people through emails, online banking systems, text messages, online transactions and other means. Yet while fraud is always becoming more sophisticated, people still get caught out by traditional scam letters and phone calls. If you notice any suspicious activity, report it immediately.

Last October, in association with the Pension Scams Action Group (PSAG), The Pensions Regulator (TPR) launched several videos featuring Pauline Padden - a critical care nurse from Merseyside, who was scammed out of her retirement savings.

In this video, Pauline urges others to stop and think “Take a step back and take a look at the great big picture – and say is it genuine or is it too good to be true?”
